The Supervision workshop has been running in Perth for several years. It is designed for people who currently supervise other professionals or who are likely to do so in the future.

Pre-workshop preparation. This paper by
Spence, Wilson, Kavanagh, Strong & Worrall (2001) is required reading. We thank the authors and journal publisher for permission to post this paper here. (PDF file, 24 pages)

There are structured exercises throughout the one-day workshop. Topics covered include

  • Understanding the goals of supervision.
  • Understanding the structure of the supervisory relationship.
  • Processes that interfere with effective supervision.
  • Techniques designed to facilitate learning.
  • Techniques designed to deal with conflict arising during supervision.
