Trainer: Graham Taylor is a trainer accredited by the EMDR Australia Association.
This workshop is presented by Graham Taylor and has been completely re-designed for 2010. If you completed your Part One training with trainers other than Chris Lee / Graham Taylor, contact Graham for additional material which is not included in other EMDR Part One trainings. Many recent papers have been added to the EMDR Part One page. Before attending the Part Two Workshop you should be familiar with all of this material. Graham Taylor began using EMDR shortly after the 1989 publications appeared ,and has now treated over 2000 clients with EMDR. He trained with Dr Shapiro, and has helped the EMDR Institute train clinicians in EMDR throughout Australia since 1992. His busy private practice is an accredited placement for Clinical Psychology students. His recent workshops offered throughout Australia and Asia include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Working With Difficult Clients (Personality Disorders). He has published applied research on the assessment of personality disorder (in Cognitive Research and Therapy) , and process in EMDR.
Treatment fidelity is important in obtaining good treatment
outcomes with EMDR. Pre-workshop preparation for this workshop involves
completing a fidelity check of three EMDR sessions - you will need to audio- or
video- tape sessions to complete the check. Use this Treatment Fidelity Form
(PDF file). Allow about 3 hours.
We will look at the application of EMDR to well entrenched dysfunctional schema
(Core Beliefs). See the links to the Schema Focused
Therapy workshop for relevant background material. A detailed
reading and assessment package will be sent and must be completed before the
training. A self assessment must be completed, and two client
assessments. Allow 4 hours.
We will practice an advanced form of EMDR where some therapist input to the
therapy process is required. Francine Shapiro calls this "Cognitive
Interweave", and the relevant chapter from her book will be supplied for
pre-workshop reading. Allow 1 hour.
We draw on Marsha Linehan's pioneering work in treating people with characteristics of "Borderline Personality Disorder" in discussing how to use EMDR with emotionally vulnerable clients. A visit to two sites about her work is worthwhile. Click Here and Here.
